FIDE Women's Grand Prix Africa: Continental Stars Set for Historic Edition in Casablanca

The Africa Chess Confederation, in partnership with FIDE and the Royal Moroccan Chess Federation, has officially unveiled Casablanca as the host city for the 2026 Women's Grand Prix Africa Qualifier.

The prestigious ten-player round-robin tournament brings together the highest-rated female grandmasters and international masters from across North, West, East, Central, and Southern Africa to compete for continental supremacy and coveted World Cup tickets.

ACC Vice President and Moroccan Federation President Bouchra Kadiri highlighted the event as a monumental step forward for women's empowerment in African sports, emphasizing dedicated corporate sponsorships and extensive media coverage.

Alongside the main tournament, the ACC Women's Commission will host an intensive masterclass seminar for 40 aspiring young female arbiters and trainers, fostering a sustainable pathway for female leadership throughout the sport.
