Continental Chess in Schools Expansion Reaches 120,000 Pupils Across 18 Member Federations

The Africa Chess Confederation's flagship "Chess in Schools" initiative has achieved an unprecedented milestone, reaching over 120,000 primary and secondary school pupils across 18 participating member federations.

Through a strategic partnership with the FIDE Social Commission and international educational foundations, 25,000 tournament-standard wooden chess sets, 5,000 digital clocks, and standardized curriculum handbooks were delivered directly to underserved schools.

Over 850 public school teachers successfully completed the ACC FIDE School Instructor certification program, equipping them with pedagogical tools to teach chess fundamentals, cognitive pattern recognition, and critical reasoning.

Impact evaluations conducted across pilot schools in Kenya, Ghana, Morocco, and Zambia revealed measurable improvements in mathematics retention and academic concentration among participating students.
